Food Trip Friday: Mother’s Day Celebration at Tokyo Cafe

The day before Mother’s Day, May 7, 2011, we trooped to a relatively new dining place in SM Megamall that my husband said we should try—Tokyo Café.

Picture! Picture!

We ordered the following: Mango Chicken Salad, Seafood Pizza and Chicken in a Basket. We also tried their Refreshing Mango, Strawberry Orange and Milk Oreo.

Mango Chicken Salad, Php188.00

Chicken salad, ripe mango, grapes and romaine lettuce

I now realize that I like my salad with a twinge of sweetness, and the fruits here really complemented the taste of the chicken salad and romaine lettuce. I really like this!

Seafood Pizza, Php308.00

Shrimp, squid, kani sticks and mozzarella, topped with Japanese mayonnaise

This is something you must try! The pizza dough is a bit crunchy, and the seafood flavors are really good.

Chicken in a Basket (Regular), Php315.00

Japanese-style crispy fried chicken served with gravy

The chicken is flavorful, crispy and not dripping in oil.

Refreshing Mango, Strawberry Orange and Milk Oreo

Refreshing Mango – smoogee topped with mango jellies
Strawberry Orange – strawberry shake with a striking orange citrus
Milk Oreo – crushed Oreo cookies loaded in a milkshake

Hubby and I couldn’t quite figure out the taste of our drinks (Refreshing Mango and Strawberry Orange), so we made a mental note not to order them next time.

Overall, Tokyo Café is a bit cramped, but the food is great, although a bit pricey, and the staff are attentive and helpful.
