Del Monte Heart Smart Pineapple Juice and Orange Juice

I never leave the grocery store without Del Monte Heart Smart. Before, they only have Del Monte Heart Smart Pineapple Juice, but now they have Del Monte Heart Smart Orange Juice as well.

Del Monte Heart Smart Pineapple Juice (Php25.00) and Orange Juice (Php23.75)

I have been going to a cardiologist twice a year since 2010 for a wellness check-up. I usually had my lipid profile test done before I go to my doctor’s clinic, and the results usually reveal a high LDL (bad cholesterol) level.

Twice in 2010, I was prescribed a cholesterol-lowering medication for a month. My last check-up early this year revealed a slightly elevated LDL level, but I was not given any medication because fortunately for me, my HDL (good cholesterol) level went up, too. That means I have protection against bad cholesterol, so no medication is necessary. How I was able to increase my good cholesterol level is another story.

Now I can keep my bad cholesterol in check by drinking Pineapple Heart Smart Pineapple Juice or Orange Juice every day. That’s because Del Monte Heart Smart has Reducol™, a blend of natural plant stanols and sterols that is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

When combined with a healthy diet, the Reducol™ in Del Monte Heart Smart blocks the absorption of bad cholesterol during digestion. This in turn lowers cholesterol levels in the body, which reduces the risk of heart disease.

    1. Angeline, I suggest you ask your cardiologist how much of this you can consume. I don’t have a heart disease; I only have high levels of bad cholesterol, plus the information I wrote in my blog post came from the product label itself. It’s best to ask your doctor/s what food products are good for you.
