Rufo’s Famous Tapa at Robinsons Galleria

Because hubby was watching live boxing (Donaire vs. Prado) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum yesterday, I didn’t bother to cook family dinner anymore. My son and I just ate at the food court of Robinsons Galleria before we went grocery shopping. I saw a few new stores and decided one of them. We ordered dinner at Rufo’s Famous Tapa.

Rufo’s Sulit Combo, Php85.00

Rufo’s Sulit Combo seems like a good deal as it includes Rufo’s famous tapa plus another viand plus one side dish and rice (garlic or plain). You can choose any one of these viands for the sulit combo: Pinoy Beef Steak, Pork Sisig, Chicken Adobo, Tocino and Longganisa. For your side dish, you can have fried egg, prawn cracker, oriental cream soup, or atchara (pickled papaya). The tapa was saucy and soft but a little too sweet for my taste. My son said it’s yummy, though. The atchara would have been a safer choice for a side dish as the oriental cream soup was bland.

Personally, I like their chicken adobo more than their tapa. That’s because I’m not really fond of saucy tapa. I prefer spicy tapa without the sauce and with a hint of sweetness only. However, I’m pretty sure that a lot of people will choose this sulit combo because it is super affordable.

Burger Steak, Php66.00

I asked my son if he wanted Burger Steak, and he said okay, so that’s what I ordered for him. It includes 1-piece burger steak with gravy, fried egg, prawn cracker and garlic rice. He ate a few pieces of the prawn crackers, some of which were slightly overcooked. He also finished the burger steak, which was a bit dry and tough to cut and chew. It was also served cold. We will not order this again.

Their chopsuey looks promising, so I’d like to try that next time, along with their Intriguing dessert, the Black Sambo.
