Satisfy Your Food Cravings at RECIPES Specialties and Sweets

On a gloomy, rainy day, nothing warms the heart, soul and tummy more than honest-to-goodness good food. So even if it was raining heavily last weekend, I still braved the bad weather to go to RECIPES Specialties and Sweets at 8 Missouri Street, Greenhills, San Juan to try some of their finest offerings together with other food enthusiasts.

Kare-Kare with Oxtail & Tripe, Php395.00

Kare-Kare with Oxtail & Tripe is my kind of comfort food on a rainy day. Aside from the uber tender oxtail and tripe, this kare-kare is loaded with veggies. I also love the thick and creamy peanut sauce which is already good on its own. I still couldn’t resist that equally tempting bagoong (shrimp paste), though.

Crispy Tilapia, Php225.00

This Crispy Tilapia looks good, but it tastes even better! The fish fillet strips, served with sweet-spicy soy sauce, are delightfully crispy and tasty. I kept coming back for more of this sumptuous fish dish.

General’s Chicken, Php225.00

General’s Chicken combines chicken thigh fillet chunks, eggplant slices and RECIPES’ special sweet and spicy sauce. This was okay, but I only had a little of this as I got too preoccupied with the Kare-Kare with Oxtail & Tripe and Crispy Tilapia.

Gising Gising, Php190.00

Gising Gising, a slightly spicy vegetable dish made with Baguio beans, ground pork, coconut milk and chilis, nicely complements the Crispy Tilapia.

Calamansi Tart, Php140.00

Calamansi Tart offers a good balance of sour, salty and sweet, a perfect way to cap off a delicious meal.

Barako Brownie, Php160.00

RECIPES’ Barako Brownie is also a must-try. It’s a bittersweet brownie, mixed with Kapeng Barako and served with vanilla sauce.
